The iPad is a spectacular gadget. You can type, sing, draw or record yourself in action; the possibilities are virtually endless! However, without a bit of understanding, you might get lost in all of the available features. The following tips will help iPad owners learn more about their device and use it to its full potential.
The iPad’s iOS supports folders now. To create a folder, you will need to place and hold a finger on the app until it begins to jiggle. Once it is jiggling, drag your finger and app to another icon and release. This will create a folder which holds the two apps. The name of the folder will represent the category of what the apps are. Then you rename the folder.
It is easy to get to all the apps that are currently running on your iPad. Press the Home button twice and a bar with the running apps will appear. If you want to bring up that app, just tap its icon on the bar. Just swipe your finger down to get rid of the bar.
Do you often accidentally open loud apps? Press and hold the button used to turn down the volume, and the device will mute automatically. The lock button can be turned into a mute button as well.
Iphone Charger
Your iPad will charge slower if you are using your iPhone charger. The two devices both operate at different wattages – the iPhone at 5 watts and the iPad at 10 watts. And their chargers follow suit. Charging with an iPhone charger will take far more time. Charge your iPad with an iPad charger.
If you are one of those people that like to read a manual when you buy a new toy, you can download one onto the iPad if you need it. The Apple company is fond of minimalism, and they prefer consumers download manuals rather than print a hardcopy one out for every product that they sell.
Are you annoyed when your iPad audibly alerts you to every new email? Are you aware that you can turn it off? Go to Settings then General. Then select Sounds. Then you can change the volume or even turn off the sound for new mail.
Open pages in new tabs. If you are using Safari, you can access this feature by tapping on a link and holding your finger there for a couple seconds till a menu of options appears. In this menu, you’ll be able to get links opened in new tabs.
Muting your iPad can come in handy when needed. The original iPad didn’t have a specific mute button. When the 4.3 came out they did add the ability to mute using the lock switch to silence the iPad. Hold down the volume-down button to mute your iPad.
Mature Content
You can set your iPad to block mature content if your child will be using it. You can do so in the settings area. A quick button click will stop mature content from being viewed. You have the option of blocking anything that is labeled as “adult.”
Do you despise surfing on an iPad and not being able to determine the location where the hyperlink will send you? You can easily solve this. Since you can’t hover over words like on a regular computer, you may touch and hold that word. This reveals the hyper-linked URL.
Did you know that the iPad has the ability to cut and paste snippets of text? Tap the text and hold down on it if you wish to copy it. A menu will pop up allowing you to select that sentence. Tap once again, and you’ll see that the text is highlighted. Choose copy after this. Next, just hold down in the text box and choose “paste.”
Decide whether you want the lock key to lock the orientation of your tablet or mute the sound. Some early models of the iPad will not have this option. As long as you are running iOS 4.3 or higher, you have the option. Another option if you want to mute your device is to press and hold the volume down button.
You can multitask on the web browser using tabs. You no longer have to surf away from the page that you are currently looking at in order to follow a particular link somewhere else. By holding the link instead of tapping it, you will bring up an options menu. Here, you can use a new tab for the link, so that your old one remains accessible too.
Brightness can be altered depending on where you are. Dim your screen by clicking the Home button two times and swiping. This lets you personally control your iPad screen illumination level so that you can match your current environment.
iPads become ever more useful with the more knowledge you attain. Keep all of these tips in mind and be sure to share them with loved ones who also have their own iPad. Knowing more about using your iPad will allow you to teach and help others.
